The Keqiutou Neolithic Site Complex is an international archaeological research base for the Austronesian language family. It provides direct evidence for studying the origins and migrations of early Austronesian peoples. Increasing research findings suggest that Pingtan Island in Fujian, where these sites are located, is the origin of the Austronesian ancestors. This area bears witness to the great history of prehistoric Fujian, which nurtured and exported maritime civilization and connected with the world.
